MTV Raps premiered on August 6, 1988 with hosts Fab 5 Freddy, Ed Lover and Dr. Dre and shaped the careers of many of today’s hip-hop superstars, while simultaneously making groundbreaking strides in introducing hip-hop to the mainstream. Featuring clips and uncensored moments, the VH1 Rock Doc “Yo: The Story of Yo! MTV Raps” includes interviews with hip hop stars including: Treach (Naughty by Nature), Darryl “DMC” McDaniels (Run DMC), Questlove (The Roots), Chris “Kid” Reid and DJ Wiz (Kid N Play), Rakim, Big Daddy Kane and more.
