New York, November 14, 2012 – Building upon the successful beta launch of Artists.MTV, Viacom Music Group, a consortium of brands that includes MTV, VH1 and CMT, today expanded its artist platform offering to now include VH1 with the beta launch of Artists.VH1, a new front door for artists to have their music showcased across VH1’s multiple channels and screens, as well as a singular destination for fans to discover an eclectic range of artists spanning multiple genres and decades. The first on-air integration will take place during 2012 VH1 Divas debuting live on Sunday, December 16 at 9pm ET/PT. Since launching in mid-August, nearly 10 thousand artists have claimed or created their Artists.MTV pages. In a little over three months, the platform has generated more than 3.3 million visitors with each fan spending an average of 4 minutes per visit on the site.

With the launch of Artists.VH1, both artists and fans will have another point of entry into Viacom Music Group’s artist platform experience. For artists, it’s a new front door to have their music showcased across VH1’s multiple brands, channels and shows, as well as providing artists much needed digital presence to claim and program their page.  With new features added since the Artists.MTV beta launch, artists can now leverage the millions of visitors to and to grow the direct connections to their fan base.  Artists can easily make tracks available for streaming with a free download in return for a connection via email, Facebook or Twitter.

As an established musical curator and tastemaker, VH1 connects artists and fans with programs and tentpole events like Storytellers, Divas, Behind the Music, Pop Up Video, Rock Docs, You Oughta Know and Unplugged. Visitors to Artists.VH1 will be able to access artists featured in these events and shows through badge collections found here. Building upon the musical heritage of VH1 and sister channels VH1 Classic and VH1 Soul, Artists.VH1 seeks to provide homesteads for several types of artists groups that are currently being underserved on digital platforms including AAA (adult album alternative) artists, catalog artists, as well as R&B and soul artists. For fans, Artists.VH1 will serve as a discovery platform for content and information from and provided by a variety of artists and genres ranging from Mumford and Sons to Alicia Keys to Def Leppard.

“With the launch of Artists.VH1, we’re filling a major void in the digital music space by providing non mainstream pop artists and their fans direct access to one another reflective of what we deliver on air with our Storytellers and You Oughta Know franchises,” said Tom Calderone, President of VH1. “The platform offers both established and emerging artists a homestead where they can have more access to their presence across our screens to control their image and opt into a myriad of opportunities including music video rotation and song integration in our programs that will generate both exposure and revenue.”

Having just launched the artist platform experience via Artists.MTV in mid-August, Viacom Music Group is already seeing substantial traffic and fan engagement. More than 10 thousand artists ranging established major label artists like Rihanna to an emerging artist like BLACKBEAR have already claimed or created their pages. More than 3.3 million fans have visited the site, with each spending an average of four minutes.  In the coming months, Viacom Music Group will launch Artists.CMT as well as a mobile app for iOS and Android smartphones.

Viacom Music Group’s artist platform is powered by Topspin GoDirect which gives tools to artists to claim and customize their own page and have their music showcased in a myriad of ways across multiple channels and sites. Artists can upload music, videos and photographs; sync social accounts to pull in content from across the web. In the coming months, artists will be able to sell music, merchandise, memberships and tickets directly, right on their page. Artists can claim or register their page now at

Artist platform provides fans a central place to connect with artists they love, while also opening doors to discover new and emerging talent.  Fans can access content directly from the artist, as well as music, videos, news, photos, bio and more. Visitors can discover new music through tools like artist ranking lists (based on search) and filter by similar genres, sounds and other categorical sets.
